The company vision is to build a drug discovery company with<br \/>\nthese technologies at its core.<\/p>\n<p>We are seeking an experienced Computational Chemist to join the growing research team at<br \/>\nOMass to support the company\u2019s discovery programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to<br \/>\nundertake an extremely dynamic and diverse role within a new biotechnology spin-out<br \/>\ncompany from the laboratory of Professor Carol Robinson at the University of Oxford. The<br \/>\ncompany offers a thriving and creative environment for a well-suited candidate to be<br \/>\nexposed to drug discovery and development processes and state-of-the-art technology<br \/>\ndevelopments. You will acquire extensive knowledge of the company\u2019s operations and<br \/>\nbecome an integral part of our future vision.<\/p>\n<p>At OMass you will join a team of enthusiastic and dynamic scientists with a shared passion<br \/>\nfor building a world-leading drug discovery company using an exciting and powerful set of<br \/>\ntechnologies. Following a recent successful fund-raising exercise, the company is expanding<br \/>\nsignificantly in different areas and currently in the process of moving to a new building at<br \/>\nthe Oxford Science Park. This is an excellent time to join a growing company.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will have worked in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company,<br \/>\ncollaborating with medicinal chemists and pharmacologists to identify and optimize small<br \/>\nmolecule chemical drug leads. You will have experience with protein-based and ligand-based<br \/>\ndesign methods. Experience with drug discovery for GPCR targets is preferable, but<br \/>\nnot essential.<\/p>\n<p>The preferred candidate will have the following profile:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A PhD in medicinal chemistry or a related topic<br \/>\n\u2022 5+ years\u2019 experience in drug discovery in an industry setting (pharmaceutical or<br \/>\nbiotech company)<br \/>\n\u2022 Demonstrated track record of contribution to drug discovery programs<\/p>\n<p>Role Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Participate as a member of project teams, actively contributing to the success of the<br \/>\ncompany\u2019s drug discovery programs;<br \/>\n\u2022 Build a fit-for-purpose computational chemistry function, including selection of<br \/>\nappropriate hardware and software;<br \/>\n\u2022 Build models of membrane receptor targets, including GPCRs;<br \/>\n\u2022 Perform virtual screening against structural models of targets;<br \/>\n\u2022 Design and procure target-focused &amp; lead-focused libraries;<br \/>\n\u2022 Design and procure fragment libraries, suitable for screening by native mass<br \/>\nspectrometry;<br \/>\n\u2022 Develop a strategy for using mass spec-derived fragment-binding data to construct<br \/>\nfocused screening libraries;<br \/>\n\u2022 Implement and administer an electronic laboratory notebook system;<br \/>\n\u2022 Establish a data management system for research data, including chemical structures<br \/>\nand assay data (mass spec &amp; biological), as a support tool for scientific decision making.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should provide a full CV with a list of their publications to date, contact details for<br \/>\n2 referees and a cover letter describing their compatibility with position required to<br \/>\ninfo@omasstech.com<\/p>\n<p>OMass Technologies values diversity and is committed to equality of opportunity, we also<br \/>\nhave full responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to work and live in UK.<\/p>\n<p>Job Type:Full-time<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; OMass Technologies specializes in applying state-of-the-art native mass spectrometry platforms to characterizing challenging protein assemblies, including membrane proteins.
