We are seeking an experienced Computational Chemist to join the growing research team at
\nOMass to support the company\u2019s discovery programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to
\nundertake an extremely dynamic and diverse role within a new biotechnology spin-out
\ncompany from the laboratory of Professor Carol Robinson at the University of Oxford. The
\ncompany offers a thriving and creative environment for a well-suited candidate to be

\ndevelopments. You will acquire extensive knowledge of the company\u2019s operations and

At OMass you will join a team of enthusiastic and dynamic scientists with a shared passion
\nfor building a world-leading drug discovery company using an exciting and powerful set of
\ntechnologies. Following a recent successful fund-raising exercise, the company is expanding
\nsignificantly in different areas and currently in the process of moving to a new building at
\nthe Oxford Science Park. This is an excellent time to join a growing company.<\/p>\n
The successful candidate will have worked in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company,
\ncollaborating with medicinal chemists and pharmacologists to identify and optimize small
\nmolecule chemical drug leads. You will have experience with protein-based and ligand-based
\ndesign methods. Experience with drug discovery for GPCR targets is preferable, but
\nnot essential.<\/p>\n
The preferred candidate will have the following profile:<\/p>\n
\u2022 A PhD in medicinal chemistry or a related topic
\n\u2022 5+ years\u2019 experience in drug discovery in an industry setting (pharmaceutical or
\nbiotech company)
\n\u2022 Demonstrated track record of contribution to drug discovery programs<\/p>\n
Role Responsibilities<\/p>\n
\u2022 Participate as a member of project teams, actively contributing to the success of the
\ncompany\u2019s drug discovery programs;
\n\u2022 Build a fit-for-purpose computational chemistry function, including selection of
\nappropriate hardware and software;
\n\u2022 Build models of membrane receptor targets, including GPCRs;
\n\u2022 Perform virtual screening against structural models of targets;
\n\u2022 Design and procure target-focused & lead-focused libraries;
\n\u2022 Design and procure fragment libraries, suitable for screening by native mass
\nspectrometry;
\n\u2022 Develop a strategy for using mass spec-derived fragment-binding data to construct
\nfocused screening libraries;
\n\u2022 Implement and administer an electronic laboratory notebook system;
\n\u2022 Establish a data management system for research data, including chemical structures
\nand assay data (mass spec & biological), as a support tool for scientific decision making.<\/p>\n
